| Culverhay/Tancsics Schools Link – The Hungarians are coming |
|
October 2010 saw five students from the Bath Culverhay School make a first in the country link with students and teachers at the Tancsics Secondary School in Kaposvár. Nancy, a media teacher and Andrew, Culverhay’s international co-ordinator also managed to make the trip. The recent presentation given by the students to the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Bath, Councillor Shaun McGall showed what a great time had been had by one and all.
In the course of his visit to Culverhay, the Mayor specifically asked to see the Radio Station. He met the radio presenters and found himself being interviewed and closely questioned on a series of educational topics!
Culverhay reciprocated and invited the Tancsics School to visit the City. The Head of the School with two teachers and four students arrived in Bath on 7th March and stayed until the following Monday. Nancy Connolly, a BKTA member and teacher at Culverhay with staff and students created a great week of sightseeing for the visitors, who were also able to practice their excellent English. The day before the Tancsis students departed to go home; the Bath Kaposvár Twinning Association hosted a relaxed informal supper get together at the Pulteney Arms. That overcame all language barriers!
